picking weeds
I picked weeds and trimmed shrubbery at the cemetery this morning. I am part of a volunteer work crew that helps out at the church cemetery on Wednesday mornings and I find that picking weeds is not only necessary but rewarding. Rewarding? Yes, my parents are "residing" in this cemetery and it gives me great comfort to know that I am part of a group that truly takes pride in the upkeep of this lovely peaceful place. It is a very historic cemetery with the graves of many of the areas founding families dating back to the early 1800's. It is called Jesse Knight Memorial Cemetery. And, it is beautiful...like a park. There are many large old shade trees and the grass is thick and green. Keeping the weeds down is a chore, but one I choose. It's just something I do. With pleasure.
