grabitational forces

No, the title is not misspelled.  It is the word I use to describe the quick and decisive movements of my niece's sweet little boy.  I went to breakfast with my niece and her son this morning and I had plenty of opportunity to observe this phenomenon.  Nothing was safe.  The napkins, the straws, everyone's food, the trays and even his own personal placement received the same treatment.  It was all his and he showed his presumed ownership of these items by moving in quickly, taking with force and tightening the grip on the said item to the point of destruction.  Using diversional tactics played an important part in the grab game.  Looking at the waving napkin in his right hand and chasing it when it fell served to distract the viewer from the food he was about to take from their tray.  And, his grip is strong.  Don't even bother to separate a little man from his food, straw or placemat.  You won't win.  Grabitational force is at play.  And it's working.
