Springtime And Juneau
Today is the first day of Spring. It is also the day I have designated as Juneau's birthday. Juneau is my dog and he is two years old today. I don't know his real birth date and I never met his parents. Juneau was a runaway dog who found his way into my neighborhood and ended up staying. He was probably about ten months old at the time, arriving just before Christmas in 2006. He is a mixed breed dog with Siberian Husky being the dominate breed. He has icy blue almond shaped eyes and a wolfish look. He is a short hair and has a bit of Rhodesian Ridgeback in him. At times the strip of hair that runs down the center of his back stands straight up and gives him a Mohawk look. He is very friendly, loves squeaky toys and tends to be rather possessive of them. He's quite a clown! It took patience but I have gotten him to understand that I am lead dog in this house. The name Juneau fits him perfectly. It pays homage to his northern heritage and it starts with the letter J. (His predecessor was Jacques.) They say some people pick their pets and some pets pick their people. I wasn't looking for a pet but I believe Juneau had other plans for me. Lucky dog! Lucky me! Happy Birthday, Juneau!
