my total eclipse
I have been anticipating this day. It is the day of the great American total eclipse and I am excited. I chose to view the eclipse from a small town in the northeast corner of Kansas. So, it is possible to research the best routes, take care of accommodations and arrive on time but you can never control the weather. So...there began the disappointment. There was a heavy cloud cover all morning and, as I watched the eclipse in other parts of the country on the weather channel I was thinking that I wouldn't be able to see it at all. But, interestingly (and amazingly) just as the moon covered the sun above me, the clouds parted and I was able to see what I came for. The total eclipse was perfect. I saw the entire corona and then I saw the diamond ring effect. I watched as the sun returned as a crescent and then became bigger and bigger. And then it was over. It happened very quickly. It was awe inspiring and I'm glad I was able to ultimately experience it. I would do it again. hmmm...2024.
